Clearing out the Keep

1492 DR 15th of Kythorn (The Time of Flowers)

Summary

map-session-15.jpg The group enters the gates of the keep into the cliff side after a short rest and explore it. They find and release some prisoners, the parents of the boy from the morning were some of the prisoners found and released. After completing clearing out the keep the group decides to take to take the prisoners to Beliard so they can be safe. At Beliard they learn more about the missing Delegation from Mirabar since they had traveled through Beliard on their way to Summit Hall.

Detailed

The group takes a short rest, then enters into the keep. Within the first main hall they are attacked by gargoyles and monks. They manage to clear out a bunch of cells and free a bunch of people. They encounter a barricks and fight with a small group of Duergar. They find what appears to be a main bedroom and a chest with some gold in it. However the rest of the tunnels deeper into the mountains is destroyed from a long time ago. From there the group decides to travel to Beliard to guard the prisoners that they freed. At Beliard, they learn that the Delegation from Mirabar had passed through town some time ago. The Delegation was on the way to Summit Hall to inter the body of a Knight of Samular. They were last seen about ten miles out of town heading south on the Dessarin Road. A bar wench in the Watchful Knight, saw a monk in a gold gargoyle mask watching the delegation in the the Watchful Knight, but left a few hours before the delegation. There were also reports of sky-blue armor clad knights with white cloaks flying on giant winged birds around Beliard at the time of the leaving of the delegation. The group gets new horses, and then decides to travel south to Summit Hall to see what they can find out next.

Ambush of the Black Earth Cult

1492 DR 15th of Kythorn (The Time of Flowers)

Summary

The group wakes up from a night of dark dreams. They find a stranded boy along the river whose family was ambushed and captured. The group finds the trail of the captors and goes to a old keep in the Sumber Hills. There the group fiercely battles a group of folks from the Black Earth Cult, nearly falling in the battle.

Details

map-session-14.jpg During the evening the group has nightmare visions. Each seems to have some sort of dream about going to a dwarven keep in the Sumber Hills. Each somehow finds themselves alone against some force, and is overwhelmed in some version of elemental natural destruction. Ulrich’s dream the party stay together and manages to defeat the evil that is at the keep.

Come morning time the group finds a boy who is unconscious, washed ashore near their camp. It seems he escaped some captors, while his parents were not so lucky. They take the boy to a nearby relative, then head back to the river and find the camp of his family, following the trail left by the captors. They soon come to an old partly damaged keep in a cliff wall that they all saw in their dreams. The group enters the keep. A voice of someone they cannot see talks to them asking them to join the Black Earth cult, Marlos would be interested in having them. The group declines and a vicious battle ensues. Zab, Billie, and Ulrich all nearly perish. But the party ends up victorious however after a long battle. The party does notice that the barbarian that was attacking them was wielding Bildri’s warhammer Orcsmasher.

Horse Thieves and River Bandits

1492 DR 11th of Kythorn (The Time of Flowers) to 15th of Kythorn (The Time of Flowers)

Summary

The group decides to head how the Stone Trail. During one of the evenings they are attacked by Bugbear Horse Thieves. One of the horses is almost taken, but after a long chase by Ulrich, he managed to stop it. The following morning the group is reunited with Ekalb. He had been spending his time trying to uncover more information about the map that was discovered in Wave Echo Cave. He was heading to Westbridge from Beliard.

The group gets to the Stone Bridge after a few days. Questioning the few cavarans that the encounter on the way. At the Stone Bridge, Ekalb looks for any sort of indication of an entrance to an ancient ruins at the base of the Stone Bridge. The group decides to turn south a follow the river looking for the missing twins from Westbridge. During the second evening the group is attacked by river bandits. After defeating them, Ekalb ties up the two survivors naked back to back. Billie begins interrogating them. Ekalb ends up killing who appears to be the leader in what he believes is justice. Ulrich gets very upset with what he thinks is murder. A bit of a physical altercation ensues between the two. The group packs up camp and moves though they had lost two horse mounts during the fight.

Abduction in Westbridge

1492 DR 8th of Kythorn (The Time of Flowers) to 11th of Kythorn (The Time of Flowers)

Summary

map-session-12.jpgThe party continues south from the Black Maw Bog along the Long Road. Within a few hours of Westbridge the party is attacked by a band of what turn out to be Uthgardt warriors. Two of the warriors manage to escape. In Westbridge the party stays at the Harvest Inn. From the Innkeeper they learn of a dwarven prospector that has been long overdue and two sibling townsfolk that have disappeared from their homestead outside of town. Ulrich chats with a halfling Paladin of Helm that has worked with the Ravens of Penifell. Billie and Zab have a local adventurer show them the homestead of the missing siblings. They discover signs of forced entry and no theft. Zab speaks with the dog at the house and learns they were taken a week ago by some humans that smelled like fish. The party follows tracks they believe where used by the adbuctors, as it leads towards the River Dessarin. Six hours after leaving the party is attacked by two Ankhegs that come out of the ground.

Trouble in Red Larch

1492 DR 27th of Mirtul (The Melting) to 7th of Kythorn (The Time of Flowers)

Summary

Tharden Rockseeker seeks out the party in the Stonehill Inn and comes to them with a message from Bildri Dhig. Bildri was sent to Red Larch to meet with a coming delegation from Mirabar for a business deal. Bildri used Sending to get a message to Tharden. The delegation never showd up, strange happenings, missing people and to send the The Foot Clan of Phandalin.

The Foot Clan of Phandalin travel from Phandalin to Triboar, then south through the Black Maw Bog. By wagon Phandalin to Conyberry is three days. Conyberry to Triboar is 4 days. The group stayed a nite and afternoon in Triboar. In Triboar, the group stays at The Gypsy and Goblet and there they learn about an adventurer regular that has been missing for some time, he is part of the Ravens of Penifell. They also learn about two merchants from Waterdeep that are also long overdue. There are rumors that abound of greatly increased bandit activity along the Long Road.

The group decides to disguise their wagon as more of a merchant wagon and they purchase a load of lumber to take down to Red Larch. From there they head south camping outside the Black Maw Bog before evening. In the morning they are attacked by two trolls from the bog. The following day they made it through the bog and continued on towards Westbridge.

Taking care of Bandits

1490 DR 1st of marpenoth (Leaffall) to 1491 DR 11th of Hammer (Deepwinter)

Summary

Erarlazar Dogwood spends some time learning Herbalism with a mentor in Neverwinter, while others in group pick up the Dragonscale Armor. A group finally comes up from Amn and brings 20 retainers from House von Litchenstine. With the group comes Mudd Gemclump and Bree of Athkatla who join up with the members of the The Foot Clan of Phandalin.

Sildar Hallwinter takes over the vote from the town to become the town master in Phandalin. Some months pass while the group gets some needed downtime to travel and handle various issues. Soon however Ekalb is approached by Baratheon that his had a wagon train out to Triboar had gotten ambushed by hobgoblins. Ekalb’s cousin was doing a ride along with the wagon and was captured.

The group heads up the road mostly uneventful, except for a fight with a couple of Yeti’s, manage to pick up the trail. Traveling north into the Neverwinter Wood they come upon a woman who had her homestead attacked by a group of Hobgoblins, her husband and son were taken. Dropping her back off at her homestead the group heads into the Neverwinter Wood and finds the fort where the bandits are holding out. A frontal assault on the compound sees the group victorious even though Ekalb is severely hurt. They are able to rescue both Carp and the homesteaders.

Black-Earth-Guard-trimmed.jpgThe group returns the homesteaders back home. In the morning three armed people appear at the homestead. Two are in odd stoney plate armor with a strange triangle symbols on their breastplates. The lady in charge is disappointed that the party took out the bandits, but tries to enlist the group into their service. Unsuccessful, she growls that “Marlos will be disappointed” and then battle ensues. Bree of Athkatla manages to cleave the leader in half fairly quickly.

One of the other warriors is taken out, the other begins to retreat towards the body of his commander. Grabbing a gem he flees. The party does not let the warrior go so he smashes the gem releasing an Earth Elemental. A very difficult battle ensues, but the party manages to pull through.

Changing of the Guard

The Foot Clan of Phandalin finished clearing out the last monsters found in Wave Echo Cave. Bildri, buried Nundro Rockseeker near the entrance to the cave. From there the party returned to Phandalin. Tharden Rockseeker honored the agreement Gundren made with them to clear the mine and give the party 10% of the profits. Bildri chooses to leave the party to assist his cousin in the gathering of the clan and the reopening of the mine. Nox determines it is time to return to Neverwinter, while Joselynn determines it is time to return to the area around Thundertree.

Clearing the Smelter

The Foot Clan of Phandalin searches the more of Wave Echo Cave. Encountering a group of bugbears, battling a bunch of undead and a Flameskull, as well as rescuing whom appears to be the real Tharden Rockseeker.

Battle with the Blackspider
Dates

1490 DR 7th to 8th of Eleint (The Fading)

Summary

The Foot Clan of Phandalin begins systematically clearing out the lower mines of undead. During a rest Gundren captures Bildri, and reveals himself as a doppleganger, replacing himself as Bildri within the party. The party continues moving through an area with poisoned mushrooms with little problem. From there they battle with an old Wraith.

From there the party finds the Forge of Spells and kills a Spectator that is guarding the forge. After an attempted rest, the Blackspider appears with Tharden. After talking briefly Ekalb starts the attack. A wild battle ensues where both Bildri and Tharden are revealed as dopplegangers. The real Bildri is rescued, and nearly half the party is killed. They finally prevail killing the Black Spider.

Wave Echo Cave
Dates

1490 DR 1st to 7th of Eleint (The Fading)

Summary

The Foot Clan of Phandalin head to Wyvern Tor. While on the way they take care of a Necromancer, then complete this stage of the journey by defeating a scouting tribe of orcs at Wyvern Tor.

From there they head to Wave Echo Cave. There they find the body of Nundro Rockseeker in the entrance cavern. They party then begins the process of clearing the mines out.
